Museums

There are a number of museums near the Paleis Hotel that are certainly worth a visit.

The Mauritshuis shows the best of Dutch painting from the Golden Age. The compact world famous collection is located in the heart of The Hague. Masterpieces such as Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes, Tulip by Rembrandt, The Goldfinch by Fabritius and The Bull by Potter are on permanent display in the intimate museum rooms of the seventeenth-century monument.

The Escher Museum houses the most famous works by M.C. Escher to be admired. He has been referred to as the "master of metamorphosis, king of illusion and magician on paper". In the cinema you can learn more about his life and work.

The Voorlinden museum connects people, art, nature and architecture. Combine your visit with a walk through nature and end your tour in the restaurant.

Or admire the magical optical illusion in Hendrik Willem Mesdag's panoramic painting. This large panorama dates from 1881 where you can look 360 degrees around you and experience the illusion. In the Panorama Mesdag museum you can also visit the permanent collection and a temporary exhibition.
